My bio-defender tincture is formulated for shikimic acid content & plant compounds that assist with the flu. Take this tincture preventively or when you see symptoms begin to arise. This tincture is not meant to take continuously, so take for a week then rest a couple days before starting again. Made on 9/18/25.

Ingredients: star anise (double extracted), dill seed (double extracted), white pine needles (double extracted), elderflower, yarrow, elderberry, dulse, black current leaf, ginger, menstruum is Everclear + spring water. Fresh herbs in 1:2 ratio (white pine, yarrow, elderflower, elderberry, ginger, black current leaf), dried herbs in 1:10 - 1:15 ratio (star anise, dulse, dill seed). Final blend is approx 57-63% ABV

In my humble opinion, 'getting sick' is a natural & necessary purging that our trusted bodies benefit from. But then there are times when that purging is rough, and 'feeling like death' happens. There might be things that were 'injekted' that don't benefit our bodies, so why not use the natural world to help out or take the edge off? My aim was to capture the shikimic acid of dill seed, star anise & white pine. All 3 of these are the main ingredients, and double infused: a hot tea was made of each for the water-soluble properties, then combined with high ABV menstruum to extract the desired chemical compounds. Elderflower is added for fever support, elderberry added for flu support, yarrow for blood harmony, black currant leaf for antioxidants, ginger for its ability to 'boost' & support the other herbs while adding warmth & diffusive properties. Lastly, a small amount of dulse for natural salt & iodine, which can sometimes be helpful when the body is out of balance. This was a really complicated tincture to make, but I like a challenge:) I am not sure if I am going to make this every year, that is still to be seen.

Most of these ingredients were sourced or grown from my own property, with the exception of the star anise & dulse:) I wanted to collect each plant in season, & tincture as the plants became available. I spent a great deal of time researching specifics of each chemical compound for maximum extraction of each plant. I do hope that this tincture can help people. I know how miserable it can be (egads!).

Tricia makes such great products, and this is no exception! I wholeheartedly recommend this shop to friends and family whenever I can, and to you, internet person reading this, I also encourage you to shop here -- I think you'll find her stuff to be well-formulated, high quality, and a joy to use.

Thanks, also, for the shipping overage refund! There can be a bit of sticker shock with Etsy's calculated shipping price, so it's a HUGE relief to know that I can look forward to having the unused portion of the charges returned to me. Just another reason aforagerscollective is my favorite indie maker of herbal products <3
