Solomon seal tincture (polygonatum biflorum) is made with fresh roots I grow myself. May have sediment, shake before use. Strained on 7/16/25.
Ingredients: fresh solomon seal root, menstruum (everclear + spring water) - 1:2, approx 45-50% ABV
Solomon seal is a watery & mucilaginous root, that is known for its assistance with joint, connective tissues & synovial fluid. It has anti-inflammatory properties, and some also use it for digestive health. It's often used to treat injuries in the musculoskeletal system and seems to be able to restore ligament function while acting as an anti-inflammatory to these tissues. If there is connective tissue that seems 'dry & tight', this is an especially good plant.
Non herbal uses for Solomon's Seal:
You can actually eat this cooked, as a root vegetable. It's such a watery, crunchy root, that I could see the appeal of eating it fresh too but eating it fresh can be irritating due to some of the chemical compounds in it. Sometimes when I'm cleaning & chopping copious amounts of it, those compounds start to make my hands itchy. Deer love this plant, so I have to keep it in areas where they don't wander. It's a beautiful plant for shade gardens (grows well with part shade), and will grow very large in rich soil.
